My Videoke Playlist: Someday by Nina

I love music and I love to sing, and I bet you can all relate when I say that I love videoke. So I’m putting up a new category in my blog called: My Videoke Playlist. From time to time I’ll be featuring one of my favorite songs; the ones that I sing whenever I get the chance to do videoke.

So, for my first feature, let me give you one of my “comfort songs”: Someday by The Soul Siren, Nina.

(Disclaimer: I do not own the music video or the lyrics of this song. No copyright infringement intended.)

SOMEDAY
Nina

Someday you’ll gonna realize
One day you’ll see this through my eyes
But then i won’t even be there
I’ll be happy somewhere
Even if i can’t

I know
You don’t really see my worth
You think you’re the last guy on earth
Well I’ve got news for you
I know I’m not that strong
But it won’t take long
Won’t take long

Chorus

Coz someday, someone’s gonna love me
The way, i wanted you to need me
Someday, someone’s gonna take your place
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see, i won’t even miss you
Someday, someday

But now
I know you can’t tell
I’m down, and I’m not doing well
But one day these tears
They will all run dry
I won’t have to cry
Sweet goodbye

Chorus

Coz someday, someone’s gonna love me
The way, i wanted you to need me
Someday, someone’s gonna take your place wo oh oh
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see, i won’t even miss you
Someday,
I know someone’s gonna be there
Someday, someone’s gonna love me
The way, i wanted you to need me
Someday, someone’s gonna take your place
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see, i won’t even miss you someday, someday oh yeah yeah

Our Ayala Triangle Gardens Experience

Last Tuesday, my husband and I decided to bring our kids to the Ayala Triangle Gardens to see the Lights Show. It’s was our first time to go there and the kids were very excited. A few years back, when I was still a “Makati Girl” (hehe..), that piece of land along Makati Avenue and Paseo De Roxas was just a very big expanse of trees where I used to wait by for my jeepney ride home, so I was surprised and delighted to see how it looks now. It’s like the Philippines’ Central Park now.

The Lights Show was just astounding. I enjoyed it so much. It’s like I’m a kid again as I watch the dancing Christmas lights of the show. My daughters felt otherwise though. Lara complained that she got dizzy and Kristen was a little frightened with it, but heck, I know they had fun.

The area where the Lights Show is being shown. Photo courtesy of my hubby. :)

One flaw of our trip however was arriving there around 8 pm already so the park and the restaurant strip was already very crowded. I bet we could’ve gotten a good spot to watch the Lights Show from if we got there early (and we could’ve eaten at Bon Chon too, hmmp.).

But nevertheless, we had a very good time. I’m sure we will go back one of these days. :)

How Do You Cope With Stress, Mommies?

A few weeks ago, one of my friends sent me a message in Facebook. She’s just given birth to her second child that time and her eldest was just a year old. She was getting worried because she was always feeling depressed and angry because she no longer have time for herself .

The way I see it, there could only be one reason why she’s feeling that way.. she’s stressed out.

Just like her, I have two kids too, and have also felt the same way that my friend did. Actually, let me correct myself, I still feel that way at times. I guess it’s normal for Mommies , especially the stay-home ones, to feel this kind of self-pity towards themselves. After all, motherhood is one tough job and it could really take a toll on a woman’s sanity at times.

I believe though, that all women can overcome this. There are so many ways. Let me share with you the things that I do to cope:

  1. I DON’T SLEEP WHEN I HAVE TIME, I RELAX – Most of the mothers that I met before I gave birth to my eldest advised me to sleep whenever the opportunity arises; like when baby is also sleeping or hubby/mom/mom-in-law volunteered to take his/her turn on the baby. Well, this advise is very helpful especially when your baby is still very young since he doesn’t have a normal sleep cycle yet. In my case though, if I don’t feel very tired and drowsy, I ditch sleeping and do something else: call my mom, chat with my friends, surf the net, blog, cuddle with my husband, play with my eldest. This takes away that feeling of not having time for myself anymore.
  2. I TALK ABOUT IT – Most of the time, what women need is just release. A venue to let all our frustrations out. For me, it really helps if you let it all out. Talk to someone you trust about how you feel, or better yet, talk to your husband. After all, our husband is our partner in life. If there’s anyone who needs to know how we are , it’s them.
  3. I PRAY – This is my pre- and post- regimen, day in and day out. Prayer is the only thing that keeps my sanity intact during those days that I feel so helpless and tired. I believe that this is the most effective way to overcome stress because you’ll be asking for help from Someone who knows what your heart desires even if you don’t say it.

I hope these ideas help you. Indeed, motherhood is serious work and can be very tiring, but let’s not allow depression and stress to take over. Let’s not allow it to stop us from becoming the best mom and wife that we can be.
